Lucio Fontana. Earth and Gold

Galleria Borghese
Piazzale Scipione Borghese, 5 - Roma
From the 21/05/2019 to the 28/07/2019
Approximately fifty works will be shown, including oil paintings in gold and ceramics, hanging in the fifties and sixties.
Gold is therefore no longer in the Baroque sense of maximum exaltation of the ornament, but rather a structural vertex of the form that encloses the light itself, in its physical and aesthetic interpretation, in its compositional visual matter. Gold as a spatial component that, in classical antiquity, early Christian, medieval and Renaissance, is the synthesis of light and space.
But at the same time, also originated gold, as virgin material, from the mixture with the mud. For this reason, his magnificent ceramic production, born, in material terms, from the muddy earth, will complement the works in gold in this exhibition. For this reason we intend to put together a collection of cooked lands, its painted ceramics, chosen from the predominant theme of the Crucifixions, all strong compositions from a sprawling quiver of Baroque origin
